By car Banja Luka is located on the main road M16 (international code E661), which represents the most significant transit road in the region. It connects Central and Eastern Europe with he Adriatic coastline and it had been used even by the Ancient Romans to connect Dalmatia with Pannonia. Bana Luka is also a crossroads of the regional roads that head to Prijedor, Doboj, Derventa, Teslić, Ključ, etc. Zagreb is located 167 km from Banjaluka. If you are coming from Zagreb you should take the high-way E-70 (Zagreb-Lipovac), heading east toward Belgrade. At 160km from Zagreb, in Okucani, you are ought to exit the high-way and turn right to the road E661. Just keep southwards to the border crossing with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Gradiska (11km). From Gradiška you follow again E661 heading south until you finally get to Banjaluka (50km). Belgrade is located 350 km from Banjaluka. If you are coming from Belgrade you should take the high-way E-70 heading west toward Zagreb. Sarajevo is located 234 km from Banjaluka. If you are coming from Sarajevo take the road E-73 heading north-west toward Kakanj. After 60 km there is a possibility to take two roads leading to Banjaluka. The first and longer one follows the E73 heading north toward Zenica, Maglaj and Doboj. After 17 km from Doboj turn left and take the road toward Derventa, Prnjavor and Klašnice. In Klasnice turn left and take the main road M 16 (E661), keep driving 16 km down south until you get to Banjaluka. The second possibility is to take the road that is far more scenic. It is the one that turns right -the previously mentioned road E661, leading to Vitez, Travnik, Jajce and Banjaluka.
